Medical Facial Aesthetics

Dr. Sara Marchner is our medical facial aesthetics expert. She was educated at Royal Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, the university associated with the prestigious Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physics in Sweden. She commenced her career as a dental surgeon and gained extensive experience in General, Restorative, Cosmetic and Trauma Dentistry having worked in both Sweden and England. Her passion for aesthetics, proportions and balance led her to the field of aesthetic medicine.

Dr. Sara pursued her interest in Facial Aesthetics and Anti-ageing Medicine and obtained her MSc in Aesthetic Medicine with distinction from Queen Mary University where she was invited to join the faculty and is currently an Honorary Teaching Assistant at MSc Aesthetic Medicine Programme. Dr. Sara’s mission is to offer her patients the opportunity to age slowly and gracefully, to enhance the beauty without changing what is unique to the individual face, and maintaining a natural expression. The focus is on facial proportions and balance, to achieve a youthful and radiant appearance, without the risk of looking “done”.

Dermal fillers

Prices: Start from £450 and will be agreed upon consultation. (typically lip fillers start from £650)

A popular treatment to combat signs of ageing, replace volume-loss, reduce wrinkles, improve the shape of facial features, such as lips, cheeks, nose, jawline etc., thereby creating a fresh and harmonious look. Dermal fillers are injected into or under the soft tissues with a cannula or a fine needle and the procedure is virtually pain free.

Results can be seen almost instantly and usually lasts between six to twelve months, depending on the area.

Areas where dermal fillers are commonly used include:

  • Lips (improve shape/ plumping)
  • Under the eyes/ tear troughs (reduce eye bags)
  • Chin and Jawline
  • Cheeks
  • Smoker’s lines around the mouth
  • Nose (non-surgical rhinoplasty)
  • Nose-to-Mouth lines (Nasolabial lines)
  • Mouth-to-Chin lines (Marionette lines)
  • Frown and Forehead lines
  • Forehead shaping
  • Temples
  • Acne scars

Our goal is to give our patients a natural, harmonious and youthful look and enhance the individual beauty. We only use top of the line, safe and biocompatible products (e.g. Juvederm, Teosyal, Restylane)

How does it work? The skin produces Hyaluronic Acid (HA) in order to be able to retain water and stay hydrated. As we age, the skin’s ability to produce HA is slowed down, making the skin thinner and dehydrated. By injecting HA into or under the skin (depending on what is required), we not only replace volume loss, but also help the skin to stay hydrated.

Botulinum toxin injections

Prices: Start from £265 and will be agreed upon consultation.

Botulinum toxin injections (BTX) are the most popular anti-wrinkle treatments, and Botox is the most famous brand. BTX is a very effective, safe, pain-free and quick way to dramatically improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to restore the youthful look of the face.

BTX can be used in most areas of the face, as a stand-alone treatment, but is also a powerful tool in combination with other anti-ageing treatments, such as micro-needling/ collagen induction therapy, PRF, chemical peels etc.

Areas often treated with BTX:

  • Forehead and Frown lines
  • Smile lines around the eyes/ “Crows’ feet”
  • Gummy smile
  • Dimples Chin
  • Downturned corners of the Mouth
  • Smoker’s lines

How does it work? Dynamic wrinkles are formed when specific muscles in the face contact and thereby pulling/ bundling the skin, creating lines, wrinkles and folds. With repetition and with time, these dynamic wrinkles (seen only when the muscle is working) will become static wrinkles (seen even when the face is at rest). When small droplets of botulinum toxin are injected into the over-active part of the muscle, it becomes relaxed and stops creating the dynamic wrinkles. The effect typically lasts for 3 months, after which the muscle activity goes back to how it was before the treatment.

Non-surgical Eyelid Lift / Medical Blepharoplasty

Prices: Start from £1,800 and will be agreed upon consultation. (this includes up to 3 visits, any further visits will be charged at £650)

The fine skin around the eyes are usually the first areas to show signs of ageing. The skin starts to sag, creating droopy eyelid and bags under the eyes, giving the face a tired look. Using the latest technology we can tighten the skin around the eyes without surgery, thereby restoring the youthful appearance without risking affecting the nerves and muscles underneath, and with minimal downtime.

How does it work? Using a Plasma device, generating a small electric current and ionised gas on the areas to be treated, the skin fibres contract and tighten, which leads to a rejuvenation of the skin and a lifting effect.  The treatment is completely safe and is done under local anaesthetics/ numbing cream.

Skin rejuvenation

Prices: Start from £395 and will be agreed upon consultation.

As we age, the regenerative abilities of the skin as well as all underlying tissues, such as muscles, ligaments, structural fat deposits, and bone, start to slow down and we start to see the typical signs of ageing. However, we all carry stem cells within our blood plasma, that can be harvested with a simple blood sample and concentrated to produce our own, personal ‘youth serum’, ready to be injected into the areas in need of rejuvenation.  This procedure is completely natural, with no other ingredients but your own blood plasma! This procedure is called iPRF and stands for Injectable Platelet Reduced Fibrin.

How does it work?

The healing power of concentrated plasma is nothing new. It has been widely used in sports medicine, orthopaedic and plastic surgery and many other medical specialities for many years due to its ability to speed up healing after injury or surgery. This technology is now utilised and applied to aesthetic medicine as well. The stem cells and white blood cells in the plasma release growth factors which stimulate the regenerative processes in the treated area, encouraging production of collagen, elastin and the treated tissues to regenerate and restore itself. The result is a more resistant, radiant and healthy skin. The effects can be seen after approximately 7 days, and continues to improve over the following 6 weeks.

iPRF can be used as a stand-alone procedure, but is often combined with other rejuvenating treatments, such as micro-needling to optimise the treatment results.

iPRF is also used to combat or prevent certain types of hair loss (alopecia) in both men and women as well as before and after hair transplant surgery in order to optimise and maintain the results.

Microneedling: Collagen Induction Therapy

Prices: Start from £395 (one session, full face and neck) with a 20% discount if you commit to 6 sessions

As we age, the skin starts to break down its collagen at a faster rate than it is being produced. This is one of the main biological reasons for the development of skin laxity and wrinkles. Microneedling, or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) as it is formally known, aims to stimulate the production of collagen in the skin, in order to combat the signs of ageing. The procedure works by introducing several tiny, superficial pinpricks into the skin, with a pen-like device, thereby causing a micro injury. The skin then responds by producing new, collagen-rich tissue as part of the healing. The skin is rendered more even in tone and texture and improved elasticity. CIT can be used as a stand-alone treatment, however to enhance the efficacy of the treatment, it is often used in combination with iPRF/PRP or mesotherapy.

Indications commonly addressed with CIT:

  • Acne scars
  • Age spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Large pores
  • Dull or rough skin texture
  • Stretch marks
  • Uneven skin tone

Prices: Start from £450 (one session).

Profhilo is a unique injectable anti-ageing treatment that stimulates the collagen and elastin production and improves skin elasticity, texture and overall hydration.

Profhilo is NOT a dermal filler and will not add any volume to the areas treated, instead it helps the skin retain hydration and regain elasticity which gives the skin a more youthful and radiant appearance.

How does it work?

Profhilo is a 100% Hyaluronic Acid solution, which is injected in specific points under the skin in order to nourish and hydrate the skin cells and remodel the skin structure. A numbing cream is applied to the areas to be treated, rendering the treatment is pain-free.

Most common treatment areas are face, neck and hands and the results are seen after only 2 treatments, performed 1 month apart.

The treatment is suitable for men and women from the age of 30 years and above.

Prices: Start from £1000 (for 3 sessions, based on 3 x 1ml. For deeper hydrations: £1950 for 3 sessions) and will be agreed upon consultation. Maintenance every 6 months 1ml = £395, one session, 2ml=£695, one session)

Some of the first signs of skin ageing are loss of elasticity and plumpness, thinning of the skin, as well as a reduced ability to retain moisture. Skinboosters are clinically proven to improve the condition of the skin, gradually increasing elasticity, improving roughness and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It has been proven to improve the appearance of acne scars and other textural imperfections.

Areas commonly treated with Skinboosters:

  • Face
  • Hands
  • Neck
  • Décolletage

How does it work?

Skinboosters are not the same as dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are used to create volume e.g. to create fuller lips or to fill out hollowness under the eyes, whereas Skinboosters are still Hyaluronic acid but has a very soft and water-like consistency. The effects are achieved through its biochemical properties. Skinboosters reverse the skin ageing process by reintroduciong hyaluronic acid into the skin. Once injected, the hyaluronic acid molecules start to attract and absorb water, up to 200 times its weight, locking the hydration inside the skin, thereby achieving a plumper, brighter and more youthful looking skin.

How is the procedure done?

Your doctor will inject the Skinboosters in tiny micro-injections into the skin, after having applied a topical numbing cream, rendering the procedure virtually pain-free. For the best result, it is advised to have the procedure done once a month for three consecutive months. Thereafter, it is recommended to have one treatment done every 6 months to maintain the results.
