Facial Aesthetics

Dr. Sara Marchner is our medical facial aesthetics expert. She was educated at Royal Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, the university associated with the prestigious Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physics in Sweden. She commenced her career as a dental surgeon and gained extensive experience in General, Restorative, Cosmetic and Trauma Dentistry having worked in both Sweden and England. Her passion for aesthetics, proportions and balance led her to the field of aesthetic medicine.

Dr. Sara pursued her interest in Facial Aesthetics and Anti-ageing Medicine and obtained her MSc in Aesthetic Medicine with distinction from Queen Mary University where she was invited to join the faculty and is currently an Honorary Teaching Assistant at MSc Aesthetic Medicine Programme. Dr. Sara’s mission is to offer her patients the opportunity to age slowly and gracefully, to enhance the beauty without changing what is unique to the individual face, and maintaining a natural expression. The focus is on facial proportions and balance, to achieve a youthful and radiant appearance, without the risk of looking “done”.

Dermal fillers

Prices: Start from £450 and will be agreed upon consultation. (typically lip fillers start from £650)

A popular treatment to combat signs of ageing, replace volume-loss, reduce wrinkles, improve the shape of facial features, such as lips, cheeks, nose, jawline etc., thereby creating a fresh and harmonious look. Dermal fillers are injected into or under the soft tissues with a cannula or a fine needle and the procedure is virtually pain free.

Results can be seen almost instantly and usually lasts between six to twelve months, depending on the area.

Areas where dermal fillers are commonly used include:

  • Lips (improve shape/ plumping)
  • Under the eyes/ tear troughs (reduce eye bags)
  • Chin and Jawline
  • Cheeks
  • Smoker’s lines around the mouth
  • Nose (non-surgical rhinoplasty)
  • Nose-to-Mouth lines (Nasolabial lines)
  • Mouth-to-Chin lines (Marionette lines)
  • Frown and Forehead lines
  • Forehead shaping
  • Temples
  • Acne scars

Our goal is to give our patients a natural, harmonious and youthful look and enhance the individual beauty. We only use top of the line, safe and biocompatible products (e.g. Juvederm, Teosyal, Restylane)

How does it work? The skin produces Hyaluronic Acid (HA) in order to be able to retain water and stay hydrated. As we age, the skin’s ability to produce HA is slowed down, making the skin thinner and dehydrated. By injecting HA into or under the skin (depending on what is required),we not only replace volume loss, but also help the skin to stay hydrated.

Botulinum toxin injections

Prices: Start from £265 and will be agreed upon consultation.

Botulinum toxin injections (BTX) are the most popular anti-wrinkle treatments, and Botox is the most famous brand. BTX is a very effective, safe, pain-free and quick way to dramatically improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to restore the youthful look of the face.

BTX can be used in most areas of the face, as a stand-alone treatment, but is also a powerful tool in combination with other anti-ageing treatments, such as micro-needling/ collagen induction therapy, PRF, chemical peels etc.

Areas often treated with BTX:

  • Forehead and Frown lines
  • Smile lines around the eyes/ “Crows’ feet”
  • Gummy smile
  • Dimples Chin
  • Downturned corners of the Mouth
  • Smoker’s lines

How does it work? Dynamic wrinkles are formed when specific muscles in the face contact and thereby pulling/ bundling the skin, creating lines, wrinkles and folds. With repetition and with time, these dynamic wrinkles (seen only when the muscle is working) will become static wrinkles (seen even when the face is at rest). When small droplets of botulinum toxin are injected into the over-active part of the muscle, it becomes relaxed and stops creating the dynamic wrinkles. The effect typically lasts for 3 months, after which the muscle activity goes back to how it was before the treatment.

Skin rejuvenation

PRP/iPRF

Prices: Start from £395 and will be agreed upon consultation.

As we age, the regenerative abilities of the skin as well as all underlying tissues, such as muscles, ligaments, structural fat deposits, and bone, start to slow down and we start to see the typical signs of ageing. However, we all carry stem cells within our blood plasma, that can be harvested with a simple blood sample and concentrated to produce our own, personal ‘youth serum’, ready to be injected into the areas in need of rejuvenation. This procedure is completely natural, with no other ingredients but your own blood plasma! This procedure is called iPRF and stands for Injectable Platelet Reduced Fibrin.

How does it work?

The healing power of concentrated plasma is nothing new. It has been widely used in sports medicine, orthopaedic and plastic surgery and many other medical specialities for many years due to its ability to speed up healing after injury or surgery. This technology is now utilised and applied to aesthetic medicine as well. The stem cells and white blood cells in the plasma release growth factors which stimulate the regenerative processes in the treated area, encouraging production of collagen, elastin and the treated tissues to regenerate and restore itself. The result is a more resistant, radiant and healthy skin. The effects can be seen after approximately 7 days, and continues to improve over the following 6 weeks.

iPRF can be used as a stand-alone procedure, but is often combined with other rejuvenating treatments, such as micro-needling to optimise the treatment results.

iPRF is also used to combat or prevent certain types of hair loss (alopecia) in both men and women as well as before and after hair transplant surgery in order to optimise and maintain the results.

SkinPen Microneedling: Collagen Induction Therapy

Prices: Start from £395 (one session, full face and neck) with a 20% discount if you commit to 6 sessions

As we age, the skin starts to break down its collagen at a faster rate than it is being produced. This is one of the main biological reasons for the development of skin laxity and wrinkles. Microneedling, or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) as it is formally known, aims to stimulate the production of collagen in the skin, in order to combat the signs of ageing. The procedure works by introducing several tiny, superficial pinpricks into the skin, with a pen-like device, thereby causing a micro injury. The skin then responds by producing new, collagen-rich tissue as part of the healing. The skin is rendered more even in tone and texture and improved elasticity. CIT can be used as a stand-alone treatment, however to enhance the efficacy of the treatment, it is often used in combination with iPRF/PRP or mesotherapy.

Indications commonly addressed with CIT:

  • Acne scars
  • Age spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Large pores
  • Dull or rough skin texture
  • Stretch marks
  • Uneven skin tone
